Between Kathmandu and Pokhara there are five major groups of peaks, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu, Himalchuli and the large Annapurna Himal. This trek is recommended by many trekkers. It is famous for its Tamang culture, spectacular mountain views, rhododendron forest and for being a convenient distance from Kathmandu.

Itineraries

Day 01

Kathmandu to Dhading and Sankosh: (600m)

Drive to Dhading to start the trek. Walk through the village to the ridge of Sankosh (approximately 2 hrs). The lovely views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna are seen in the distance.

Day 02

Sankosh to Lapang

Ascend through pine forest on the top of Keraunja then descend through villages to Lapang on the banks of the Aankhu river

Day 03

Lapang to Darkha

Walk along the Aankhu River before ascending to Darkha.

Day 04

Darkha to Jharlang

After an hour walk through the Tamang village descend to the Daundare River. Then ascend for another two hours to Jharlang. Walk through the villages and cross the large landslide

Day 05

Jharlang to Shertung

Graduallly ascent through forest crossing a few suspension bridges with good views of Ganesh Himal.

Day 06

Shertung-Singala base camp

Another gradual ascent through rhododendron and pine forest to reach Singla base camp.

Day 07

Singala base camp to Sing La Rupche Kharka

Ascend through grassy terrain via a rugged trail to cross the pass, then descend to Rupche Kharka for overnight camping. The view from Sing La is the highlight of this trek. The views of Annapurna Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, several Chinese peaks and Dorjelakpa, Shisapangma and Jugal Himal in the west, are fantastic.

Day 08

Rupche Kharka to Bhalche: (2000m)

Descend through pine forest and rhododendron forest to reach Balache, the first village beyond Shertung for overnight camping

Day 09

Bhalche to Betrawati-Kathmandu

Descend through some villages with millet and paddy fields to Betrawati, then drive to Kathmandu.
